The current state of agricultural land use in Ukraine is given. The essence of the main aspects of land use in the world as a basis for ensuring the rational and efficient use of land resources is revealed. It is established that the land market is an exchange of land in which the relations connected with purchase and sale of land plots, pledge, formation of supply and demand, price, carrying out effective economic activity appear and are realized. The main directions of state regulation in the field of agricultural land use in the world are indicated. As a result of the study, the models of market turnover of agricultural lands of some countries are considered. It was found that in most of the considered countries the land market is well developed and effective. The emphasis is placed on the formation of the land market in Ukraine. Having analyzed the use of land resources in Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, the Netherlands and France, one can conclude that market turnover in these countries is well developed and performs at the appropriate level due to the effective control over the use and protection of agricultural land. Among the models of market circulation of lands in foreign countries, the instruments of state regulation in the field of land use are singled out. They will ensure the formation of effective market circulation of lands and rational land use in Ukraine. The main restrictions on the purchase and sale of agricultural land in the event of the opening of the land market in Ukraine are highlighted. Based on the study, the authors identify components of the market turnover in foreign countries to build an effective market turnover of land in our country. It is proved that application of the experience of EU countries in formation of the agricultural land market in Ukraine will contribute to preservation and restoration of land resources, agricultural development, family farming in rural areas and to improvement of the living standards of rural residents, food security and Ukraine’s development as a competitive country.
