Ensuring sustainable land use of the US agricultural land is aimed at supporting farmers to improve the efficiency of their main activities, and compliance with the principles of soil protection, the principles of rational land use at farms. It is established that in order to solve the problems of information support for the land use system it is necessary to create a special technically competent service responsible for soil monitoring throughout the country. It was found that a positive feature of the legislation governing land market relations in the United States and some other countries is that it allows for the forcible seizure of land if it is used inefficiently, and their transfer, respectively, to those owners and farms that manage competently and effectively. It has been studied that in the USA, preserving and restoring land resources, improving the environment, and human living conditions is based on the rational organization of agricultural landscapes. In this direction, special laws have been adopted and economic mechanisms for the greening of land relations have been legislated, obliging all land users to comply with these requirements, regardless of the size of the land. The article analyzes land lease in the United States as one of the economic methods of land use regulation. It is established that long-term lease relations are beneficial for both parties, in terms of soil improvement and pollution control and subject to the clear functioning of legislation. Based on the analysis of foreign experience, the main measures which can be implemented in Ukraine of land use rationalization in the USA are proposed. To improve domestic regulation of land use, it is also possible to implement the US experience in actively controlling the environmental condition, intended use and other quality characteristics of agricultural land.
