Under conditions of the environment uncertainty, the adaptive management approach is not sufficient for the intensive crop production, whereas the important condition for highly efficient branch performance is to use strategic planning tools by agricultural enterprises. The main goal of the article is to substantiate the problems of strategic planning by forecasting the activities of agricultural enterprises on the example of the studied area.

The necessity of strategic planning as a precondition for improving the efficiency of agricultural activities and ensure economic growth of agriculture in market conditions is substantiated. It indicates the need for research on the formation of methodological fundamentals for forecasting the development of crop production at agricultural enterprises.

The article examines the main issues of practical application of the methods of forecasting crop production in the current business environment. Forecasting of crop production indices in the studied area was performed using the extrapolation method. Extrapolation techniques are used by assuming that most of the factors influencing the resultant variable, are stable and more or less unchanged. Considering the peculiarity of agricultural production, in which a set of influencing factors are classical, use of this method is justified. According to the results of the research, the promising indices of development of the crop production industry are determined for the studied district for the period of 2021–2022.

Application of the advanced technologies of crop production using technical and technological modernization and digitalization of the operational process is proposed.
