Annotation

The article examines the situation with the export potential of domestic chicken, the possibility of its growth in the near future. After all, the dependence on imports at the beginning of independence was enormous, which continued for decades. The signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union was a powerful impetus for opening the European market for Ukrainian chicken.

Having analyzed all the strengths and weaknesses of this sub-sector in Ukraine, there is reason to speak about an increase in the production of poultry meat, as consumption of these products in the future also tends to increase. And this applies not only to Ukraine, but to EU countries. All this will have favorable opportunities to increase exports of these products to the markets of countries where they are already exported, as well as to the perspective markets of the Gulf countries, Asia and Japan. The prospect of an Israeli market is the delivery of kosher birds and eggs.

The geography of chicken exports is considered, because it is important for Ukrainian poultry producers, especially its various subspecies, to expand foreign markets of sales and to enter new ones. The domestic enterprises, which are exporters-leaders of poultry products, which are certified and sell high quality products both domestically and internationally, are analyzed.

The issue of increasing export quotas to the EU market has been examined. Today, within the framework of an in-depth and comprehensive Ukraine-EU FTA, the annual duty-free tariff quota for the export of Ukrainian chicken under two subheadings is about 20,000 tonnes. This gives more opportunities to enter niche products in the European markets (from duck meat to guinea fowl), because it is in these poultry subsectors that medium or small producers are involved, which can be an additional incentive for development.
