In the current conditions of internationalization and globalization, it is important to develop foreign economic activity, which is a form of economic activity that is associated with production technology and scientific and technical activities and export-import operations. The country's foreign economic activity plays an important role in resolving a number of issues related to the stable functioning of the economy and reducing the possibility of a crisis. It should also be noted that the question of the role of foreign economic activity in the national economy remains debatable in the economic literature. Disclosing the subject of our study, we support the position that this element of the country's economic activity is responsible for providing the country with the necessary resources, technologies and the latest equipment needed for the production of export-oriented goods. It is necessary to conduct an economic and statistical analysis of economic indicators of the foreign market of Ukraine in the dynamics, namely the volume of merchandise exports and imports, analysis of the volume of services in both directions. Based on the analysis, the main trends of foreign economic activity at the present stage and prospects for further development of the country's economy are determined. It is necessary to develop and implement a policy aimed at increasing merchandise exports in order to improve Ukraine's foreign economic activity, to introduce innovative developments to improve the quality of Ukrainian products that would meet international standards and norms. In the author’s opinion, it is a necessary condition for creating an appropriate level of competitiveness of Ukrainian goods in modern world markets. At the same time, it is necessary to reduce the volume of imported products at the domestic market.
