In the conditions of modern globalization and internalization, the foreign economic activity of the country in general and the region in particular has a significant impact on development. Foreign economic activity is considered as a form of economic activity, associated with scientific and technical activities and production technology, as well as export-import operations. The question of the role of foreign economic activity in the economy of the country in general and the region in particular remains debatable in the economic literature. The authors of the research believe that this element of economic activity is responsible for providing the necessary resources, technologies and modern equipment necessary for the production of export-oriented goods. It is necessary to analyze the economic and statistical indicators of the foreign market of Lviv region in the dynamics and identify the main trends of foreign economic activity today and prospects for further development. The main purpose of the current article is to study and find ways to improve the main trends of foreign economic activity of Lviv region, identify the positive and negative aspects of export-import operations and the level of their impact on the economy. Today, in the dynamic environment of foreign economic activity of the region, a systematic study of the state of export-import operations, analysis of trends and prospects remains relevant. To improve the foreign economic activity of Lviv region, it is necessary to develop and implement a policy, aimed at increasing merchandise exports, implement innovative developments to improve the quality of Ukrainian products in order to create the necessary level of competitiveness of domestic goods at the modern world markets. Moreover, in the authors’ opinion, it is necessary to reduce the volume of imports at the Ukrainian market.
