Foreign economical activity is realized differently, particularly export and import of commodities, services, capitals of working sources, scientific cooperation, international financial, credited and accounting operations, etc. The process of foreign economical activity secures solution of different important problems, such as supply of deficient resources, innovative equipment and technologies.

Priorities of the international market development influence transformation of the national economies. International foreign activity is characterized by complicated and different relationship between business entities: legal, industrial, organisational, economical and ecological. Moreover, the relationships have got new nature under the influence of political, economical and other factors.

Under current economic conditions, the issues of foreign economic activity of the region and market transformation of the economy are getting more actual. Recently, the situation has become more complicated in terms of relations between different countries, being partners for decades. It forces Ukrainian commodity producers to search new opportunities at the global market. The country should develop an export strategy to consolidate the efforts, activate resources and work effectively for new and better opportunities for Ukrainian exporters, more efficient foreign activity, and improvement of Ukraine’s image in the world.

The article analyzes and investigates the current state of foreign economic activity of Lviv region and the accompanying problems. The work studies dynamics of export and import of goods. The research also defines geographical structure of foreign trade of Lviv region, the main tendencies and characteristics. In addition, the article presents the dynamics of direct foreign investment in the region, as well as identifies problem issues and perspectives, related with investments.
