Annotation

Stem’s lettuce (asparagus, uysun) Lactuca sativa var. angustana jrish. It is not very common on the territory of Ukraine, therefore it acts as an exot in the cities of the private sector and research sites of specialized scientific institutions. Plants of asparagus lettuce form a food organ in the form of a soft stem to the arrow. Along the stem opposite or alternately placed elongated leaves with a clearly pronounced central vein. Consuming food and / or stalk in Ukraine, only one variety of lettuce uysun Pogonich (created with the participation of the author N. Leschuk), which was introduced into culture in 2012, has been expanded. Therefore, the further study of the identification of stem-leaf lettuce varieties is crucial for defining the criteria for differences, homogeneity and stability.

To reveal the peculiarities of identification of vegetative and generative organs of lettuce of sowing varieties and to establish the codes for the manifestation of morphological features in the corresponding phenological phases of growth and development.

Methods of research. Field, method of identification - morphological description of qualitative (QL), quantitative (QN) and pseudo-quality (PQ) signs, laboratory, statistical. Field experiments were laid in accordance with the "Methodology of research in vegetables and melons" and "Methods of examination of varieties of lettuce of seed Lactuca sativa L. for difference, homogeneity and stability" in vegetable crop rotation of Yakymivsky variety testing station of Zaporizhya region.

Field studies on the identification of stalk salad varieties were conducted during 2015–2017. Uysun lettuce varieties were identified by 39 morphological features. Morphological code formula of the Pohonich variety, which is included in the Ukrainian varieties register, is established. The regularity of the connection of the quantitative characteristics of the variety with the formation of the productivity of plants is substantiated. Thus, the number of leaves in the phase of commercial maturation of the stem has doubled, compared with the phase of the socket of the leaves. Their maximum number was noted in the Pogonich variety and amounted to 42 leaves 40 cm in length. The length of the stem varies from 25 to 40 cm.

Variety Pogonich provided a lot of stems and leaves 310 and 750 g respectively. The yield was 21,8 and 53,2 t/ha respectively.
