Procedure of reviewing

  1. Reviewing helps the author to improve the quality of his/her scientific article, as well as gives grounds for the editorial board to make decision about its publication or rejection.
  2. Review of each article is made by independent reviewers.
  3. Reviewing is made in the mode of “double-blind review process”, i.e. reviewers and authors cannot identify one another.
  4. A review is an appropriately filled form with compulsory list of remarks to the article.
  5. Editorial board gives the remarks directly to the author of the article.
  6. The article is not published in case of two negative reviews or refusal of the author to make corrections in its text.

Maintenance of the ethical standards of publications develops the necessary level of public confidence to the “Journal of Lviv National Agrarian University”, high quality of scientific articles and originality of their performance. Editorial boards of the issues of the “Journal of Lviv National Agrarian University” keep to the norms of behavior and international standards, established by the Committee on Publication Ethics)  (http:/publicationethics.org/)

ETHICAL OBLIGATIONS OF AUTHORS

  1. Authors of publications should guarantee originality of their works, no previous publication or stay in review for possible publication in other editions.
  2. Authors of scientific articles should supply relevant results of the performed work, as well as objective argumentation of the research importance.
  3. Using works or statements by other authors, they should be listed in bibliographic references. Plagiarism in all forms is considered as unethical act and is unacceptable.
  4. The people, who have made a considerable contribution to formation of the idea, development, performance and interpretation of the presented research, can be authors of the article. All, who have made such contribution, should be mentioned as co-authors.
  5. Authors should improve the article according to the remarks of reviewers and editorial staff.
  6. Experimental or theoretical research can sometimes give the ground for criticism of the work of another researcher. Nevertheless, personal criticism is not in order under all circumstances.
  7. Authors should inform the responsible editor of the journal issue about any potential conflict of interests, e.g. consulting of financial ones, which can be forced by publication of the results, mentioned in the manuscript. Authors should guarantee absence of contract or ownership relations, which can influence publication of the information, included in the submitted manuscript.

ETHICAL OBLIGATIONS OF THE EDITORS, RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ISSUE

  1. The decision concerning publication of the scientific article is always based on its relevance and scientific importance.
  2. Responsible editor of the issue of the “Journal of LNAU” is in charge for maintenance of the requirements to a publication.
  3. Responsible editor can consult the reviewers about the final decision concerning publication of the scientific article.
  4. Acceptance or rejection of the manuscript is the complete responsibility of the editor. Responsible and concerned approach to performance of those obligations expects that the responsible editor consider recommendations of a reviewer, i.e. a scientist with great number of works in the relevant scientific direction, concerning quality and accuracy of the manuscript, submitted for publication. However, manuscripts can be rejected without a review, if the editorial board considers they do not correspond to specialization of the edition.
  5. Unpublished data, obtained from the submitted manuscripts, cannot be used in personal researches without a written consent of the author. Information or an idea, obtained in the process of the article reviewing and connected with possible advantages, should stay confidential and not used for a personal benefit.
  6. After a positive decision of the editorial board, the article is published in the corresponding issue of the Journal of Lviv National Agrarian University and loaded to the corresponding online resources.
  7. Responsible editor should respect intellectual freedom of the authors.
  8. Responsibility and rights of a responsible editor for the issue of the “Journal of Lviv National Agrarian University” concerning any submitted manuscript, authored by the responsible editor, should be delegated to any other qualified person.

ETHICAL OBLIGATIONS OF REVIEWERS

  1. A reviewer should make an objective assessment of quality of the manuscript, submitted experimental and theoretical work, its interpretation and presentation, as well as consider degree of the work correspondence to high scientific and literature standards. The reviewer should respect intellectual independence of the authors.
  2. If the chosen reviewer is not confident that his/her qualification corresponds to the level of the researches, presented in the manuscript, he/she should send the manuscript back.
  3. A reviewer should consider the opportunity of a conflict of interests in case when the manuscript is closely connected with the current or published work of the reviewer. In case of doubts, the reviewer immediately send the manuscript back without a review with determination of a conflict of interests.
  4. A reviewer should not review a manuscript if he/she has personal or professional relations with the author or co-authors of it or in case such relations can influence his/her judgments about the manuscript.
  5. Each manuscript, obtained for a review, should be considered as a confidential document. The submitted work cannot be discussed with other people, who are not authorized. Exceptions are the cases, when the reviewer needs somebody’s specific advice.
  6. Reviewers should supply an adequate explanation and argumentation of his/her judgments in order the reviewers and authors can understand reasons of the remarks. Any statement, noting that some observations, conclusions or arguments have been published before, should be supplemented with the corresponding reference.
  7. Reviewers should provide an objective assessment. Personal criticism of the author is unacceptable. The reviewer should supply a clear and argued explanation of his/her idea.
  8. A reviewer should supply his/her review with remarks in time.
  9. Unpublished data, obtained from the submitted manuscripts, cannot be used in personal researches without a written consent of the author. REQUIREMENTS TO THE ARTICLES

  1. Parameters of the text: text type – 14-point Times New Roman, line spacing of the main text – 1,5.
  2. Page parameters – A4 (210´297 mm) – margins: top – 2 cm. bottom – 2 cm, right – 3 cm, left – 1,5 cm, portrait orientation.
  3. Text language: Ukrainian, English.
  4. Compulsory elements of the article:

4.1. UDC index.

4.2. Title of the article – 14-point, capital letters, line spacing – 1,0, center justification.

4.3. Initials and surname of the author(s), scientific degree, ORCID ID, job place – 14-point, line spacing – 1,0, center justification, italic type.

4.4. Abstracts in Ukrainian and English (lot less than 1800 printed chars, including key words (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine of January 15, 2018 № 32, sub-paragraph 4 of the paragraph 6), which shortly reveal idea of the article without repeting its title. Type – 12-point, line spacing – 1,5. English and Ukrainian abstracts should include surname and initials of the author (authors), title of the article, abstract text and key words.  

  1. Rubricating (rubrics should be printed in bold type and composed into the text):

5.1. Problem setting. The rubric names the problem generally and its relation to the important scientific or practical tasks.

5.2. Analysis of recent researches and publications, which initiated solution of the problem. The author takes the works as the basis to determine some aspects of the general problem, which have not been solved before and devotes his/her article to its solution.

5.3. Task setting – defining goals of the research.

5.4. Main results. Substantiation of the obtained scientific results.

5.5. Conclusions of the research and prospects of the further investigations in the defined direction.

5.6. References (not less than 5 entries with obligatory referring in the text [1, pp. 58-60]), designed according to the standard DSTU 8302:2015 “Information and documentation. References. General requirements and rules of completing” (see guideline for authors), and English translation of the references following the same standard. The bibliographic list should be built in alphabetical order.

  1. Graphic materials: computer-made or scanned figures should be composed into the text within the matrix; tables are also composed into the text.
  2. Submitting the materials: the article and application form for the article publication in the Journal of LNAU (see form sheet) are sent in separate documents by e-mail.
  3. Editorial staff guarantees a qualified review of the submitted materials.After approval for publication in the Journal of LNEU, the article author makes payment for publishing services.
  4. Article size should be not less than 10 pages. Publication of the article in the Journal of LNAU is paid according to the number of pages (50 UAH/page). Editorial staff has the right to change price of a page in case of increase of the expendable materials costs. Articles of post-graduate students of Lviv National Agrarian University are published in the Journal free of charge. The Journal copy is send by Nova Poshta (paid by the receiver).  Any question concerning payment can be specified after the article is recommended to publication.
  5. Texts of the articles, tables, graphic material and formulas are protected by the copyright law. Republishing and translations of the articles are allowed under authors’ consent.
  6. Authors of the article are responsible for consistency of the facts, quotations, proper names, geographical names, titles of enterprises, organizations, establishments and other information. Ideas, presented in the published articles, can contradict with the ideas of editorial staff and do not impose any obligation on it.
  7. The following general rules should be followed when typing:

A non-breaking space (simultaneous pressing the Ctrl + Shift + Space) is used to separate the signs and letters for the designation of volumes, parts, paragraphs, page numbers, etc. from the following figure (Vol. 7; Part 23; § 5; No. 34; P. 28-30); conventional notation of the units of measures from the previous figure (45 pounds; 150 UAH; 32 km; 6 million; 45 thousand); initials and the surname (V.A. Lavrenov); before names and surnames (Mrs. Natalka, V. Vinnychenko), before geographical names (Chernivtsi, Moryntsi);
