Annotation

Influence of the tea ceremony on planning and functions of a Japanese garden is examined in the article. In particular, the historical experience of creating and operating of a tea ceremony has been analyzed. The research mentions the creator of the tea ceremony in the Japanese tradition, i.e. the Buddhist priest Murat Dziukko and his students and followers – Dzeo Takeno, Seno Rico, who have re-imagined the architecture of the tea house and planning of the garden. It concerned the decoration and quality of materials, their texture, color and combination, as well as the set of all the items that were used in the ceremony, in the smallest details. The «temple tea», «palace games in tea», «palace holiday» and «tea collection» were distinguished in the cult of tea. Each class of the Japanese society perceived the cult of tea in different ways: the aristocrats – as a sophisticated entertainment, lush and bright action, samurai – as rest, detachment from dangerous military campaigns and constant physical tension, rich merchants – as a covert demonstration of their independence, representatives of the poorer classes – as aesthetic comprehension of one of the elements of their own life. The essential content, as a ritual, accompanied by a tea ceremony and its utilitarian significance was found out in the work. Features of formation of the tea house architecture, planning of a tea garden, with its elements: a track, a place for hands washing, a flashlight, waiting benches, and a bucket are considered by the authors. The article discovers a special attitude to the tea ceremony and its components, namely, the house and the garden, their connection with nature, philosophy, religion and art, which contributed to the spiritual concentration of man, caused certain associations, was filled with symbolism and theatrical performance. The research distinguishes main feature of the Japanese tea garden, particularly the symbolic, important task of which was to show nature in pristine nature as an object of contemplation and admiration, and the hidden effect of the ceremony on the manifestation of a subtle emotional reaction to natural beauty and art.
