The basis of berry cultivation technologies is reviewed – the requirements for ecological conditions of growth, which are crucial for the formation of plant productivity. The attention is focused on traditional berry cultures: strawberries, black currant, redberries, gooseberries, raspberries and non-traditional, but rapidly-catching cultivations: bog bilberries, blackberries, edible honeysuckle. In particular, individual requirements are given for soil conditions, specificities of the relief of the plot and it's temperature, light and water regimes; average quantitative parameters of the biochemical composition of the fruit of traditional berry crops; digital indicators of the State Register of Plant Varieties, suitable for distribution in Ukraine for each observed cultures; main varieties recommended for cultivation in Ukraine. The advantages of cultivating each of the berry cultures are singled out.
The advantages of cultivating each of the berry cultures are singled out. The laying of berry plantations should be done on sites suitable for one or another culture using high-quality cultivated garden material of immune, resistant and tolerant phytopathogenic varieties. Properly selected crop and its varieties, adapted to the soil-climatic conditions the region, provide stable productivity and, consequently, high profit. Rational placement of berry plantations allows to grow high-quality fruits of minimal cost price and fully satisfy the need of the population in valuable vitamin products; to expand the production of high quality fruits with extremely limited presence of xenobiotics by switching from intensive (industrial-chemical) methods of farming to environmentally safe (organic, biological).
